五大连池火山为世界著名火山，五大连池矿泉水是世界三大冷矿泉之一，五大连池是我国第二大火山堰塞湖。
登山远眺，五池十四山尽收眼底，分别为：老黑山，火烧山，东西焦得布山，小孤山，东西龙门山，莫拉布山，尾山，药泉山，卧虎山，笔架山，南北隔拉球山。1719-1721年间老黑山、火烧山爆发，岩浆阻塞河道形成汐水相连如串球状的湖泊，是我国第二大火山堰塞湖，分别为：头池、二池、三池、四池、五池、药泉湖、月牙泡、天鹅湖。
